Alyssa Roenigk

Senior Writer - ESPN

Alyssa Roenigk is a Senior Writer for ESPN whose assignments have guided her to six continents and into the minds of some of the greatest athletes and high performers in the world. A passionate storyteller and curious interviewer, Alyssa is known for her ability to connect with her subjects, whether she’s reporting cover stories for ESPN The Magazine, television features for X Games broadcasts and SportsCenter, or providing daily coverage at the Olympics, Grand Slams, Super Bowls and the Women’s World Cup.  An intrepid reporter with an abundance of energy and a penchant for saying, “yes,” Alyssa’s committed countless acts of adventure in pursuit of her stories. She’s hiked through the Himalayas with the first Nepali women to summit Everest, competed in (and won!) the all-women’s Gazelle Rally in Morocco, embedded with a motocross team at the legendary Baja 1000 and snow camped in the Sierras with some of the world’s best big-mountain snowboarders. As a sports media professional, Alyssa is regularly invited to speak as a guest on panels and podcasts and to serve as a moderator, host, guest lecturer, media consultant and keynote speaker at global events.   In July 2020, ESPN launched the seventh season of 30 for 30 Podcasts, a seven-part, stand-alone series titled “Heavy Medals: Inside the Karolyi Gymnastics Empire,” which Alyssa reported and hosted. Born in Pittsburgh and raised in Florida, Alyssa grew up in New York City and currently lives in Los Angeles with her husband, Billy, and their sausage dog, Gonzo.
